Why OEL

Online erg events have been dominated by overseas formats designed for overseas markets. OEL exists because NZ athletes — from CrossFitters who'd never call themselves rowers, to school rowing crews, to masters athletes — deserve a championship that meets them where they are: at the PM monitor, with clear rules, fair divisions, and a leaderboard they can trust.

The events

The 500m — September 2026. Single-distance time trial. 12 divisions. The first event.

Ski Erg 500m — November 2026 (planned). Same format, different machine.

More events follow as the calendar grows. Bike erg, 2km classical, ski erg — all online, all verified, all affordable.

Principles

• Accessible. $25 entry, never more.
• Verifiable. Every result independently reviewed before it lands on the leaderboard.
• Athlete-first. Clear rules, fast verification, respectful comms.
• Lean. Solo-operated, automated where it should be, human where it matters.
