Terms of Service.
The terms between you and the Oceania Erg League ("OEL", "we", "us") for entering The 500m and using this website. Last updated 16 June 2026.
By creating an account, registering, or using oceaniaergleague.com, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or enter the event.
1. Eligibility
You need access to a Concept2 rowing erg with a PM monitor (PM3 or newer). The Junior division is for athletes aged 13–18; athletes under 13 may only be entered by a parent or guardian. By entering, you confirm the information you give us is true and that you're medically fit to take part.
2. Your account
You sign in with a one-time email link or with Google. Keep access to your email/Google account secure — you're responsible for activity under your account. One account per athlete.
3. Entry & fees
- Entry to The 500m is a one-time fee of NZ$25, processed securely by Stripe.
- Your entry is non-refundable once paid — it goes toward platform, prize, and operating costs locked in ahead of the event.
- If you're injured or can't compete, we'll do our best to transfer your entry to another athlete free of charge (email us), though we can't guarantee transfers close to the race window.
- If we cancel the event, you'll receive a full refund.
4. The competition
The event is governed by the Rulebook, which forms part of these Terms. The Rulebook covers eligibility, equipment, the race, verification, divisions, prizes, and disputes. In short: race your 500m any time during the window, submit a monitor photo and the required verification, and only your fastest verified time counts. Verification decisions by our Operations team are final, subject to the appeal process in the Rulebook.
5. Fair play & conduct
You agree to compete honestly and not to submit false, altered, or assisted results. Be respectful to other athletes, witnesses, and officials. We may withhold or remove results, disqualify entries, and forfeit the entry fee for cheating, abuse, or breaches of these Terms or the Rulebook.
6. Results & your content
When you submit a result you grant us permission to store and review your submission (including the monitor photo) for verification, and to publish your name, affiliation, division, and verified time on the leaderboard. Website content, branding, and design are owned by OEL and may not be reused without permission.
7. Health & assumption of risk
Indoor rowing is strenuous physical activity. You take part entirely at your own risk and confirm you're fit to do so — if in doubt, consult a doctor first. To the extent permitted by law, OEL is not responsible for any injury, illness, or loss arising from your participation or training.
8. Disclaimers & liability
The website and event are provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, OEL excludes liability for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount of your entry fee. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot legally be excluded.
9. Privacy
We handle your information as described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the date above, and notify registered athletes by email of material changes. Rulebook changes after 1 September 2026 are communicated to all registered athletes by email.
11. Governing law & contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Questions: oceaniaergleague@gmail.com.
